Hokimate Harwood: Identifying Feathers

Hokimate Harwood, Te Papa Bicultural Science Researcher, talks about identifying the feathers in more than 100 cloaks from Te Papa’s collection.

Hokimate explains that ‘the placement of feathers is a way of retaining or containing memories and information. So every kind of pattern displayed some kind of information from the weaver.’

Filmed in 2012 for the exhibition Kahu Ora Living Cloaks.
